Plaintiffs allege irregularities in management
|
"Direct authorities to hold election through secret ballot" Management be directed to furnish account books, ledgers: plaintiffs
CHENNAI
: The Madras High Court has restrained The Thyagaraya Nagar Social Club and two others, who had filed a civil suit against the club management, from "doing anything that would prejudice the case," till September 25.
Justice S. Rajeswaran gave the interim direction on a civil suit filed by P.S. Ashok alias Sinora Ashok and M.S. Karthikeya Balaji.
Alleging several irregularities in the day-to-day management of the club and manipulation of accounts, the plaintiffs apprehended that the annual general body meeting, "expected to be held on September 20," would not be conducted in a fair manner.
They wanted the court to direct the authorities concerned to hold the election through secret ballot and publish the list of members.
They said the court should ask the management not to permit any non-members within the club premises during the meeting, and asked that the management be directed to furnish account books and ledgers to members for inspection.
Matter adjourned
Justice Rajeswaran adjourned the matter to September 25 at the request of the club's counsel.
