PARIS: Prince Hussain Aga Khan, the second son of Prince Aga Khan IV — the spiritual leader of the world's 20 million Ismaili Muslims — married Kristin White, an American, on Saturday last.

The couple was married at a private, Muslim religious service at the historic Chateau of Chantilly, north of Paris. A civil ceremony took place a day earlier at Aiglemont, the Aga Khan's family home in northeast France, according to a statement.

Mr. Khan's father is the 49th hereditary Imam who traces his lineage directly from the Prophet Muhammad.

The bride, who changed her name to Khaliya upon converting to Islam, was born in 1976 in the United States and is a public health consultant. The statement did not give her exact age or hometown, but said her parents live in Montclair, New Jersey. — AP
