Closure notice served on industry

Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board on Wednesday issued closure orders to Denil & Surji Industries, Jeedimetla, for operating without obtaining CFO from the Board.

The PCB in a statement issued here said the industry was inspected following complaints of eye irritation and breathing problems.

During inspection it was observed that the industry was manufacturing chemicals not permitted by the PCB.

One of the raw materials used was chloro sulfonyl chloride, which was stored in drums.

While transferring drums on September 3, the chemical leaked, causing problems to residents of surrounding areas, the PCB said.
