MCH alters plan to widen key road

Staff Reporter

Change after request by property owners on Saidabad-I.S. Sadan stretch

  • MCH Commissioner's conditional offer on compensation
  • Local people agree to give land if road is widened to 80 feet
  • Errakunta lake to be developed at a cost of Rs 2 crores

HYDERABAD: The Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad (MCH) has altered the plan to widen the Saidabad-I.S. Sadan road from the proposed 100 metres to 80 metres following a request made by property owners on the route.

The initial plan was to have a 100-metre wide road from Nalgonda crossroads to Saidabad and on to I.S. Sadan and Chandrayanagutta linking to the Shamshabad International Airport road.

Widening the road from Nalgonda crossroads to Saidabad ACP office is not an issue because of Government properties on the way, but about 60 properties will get cut if similar width is maintained from there to Dhobighat crossroads on to I.S. Sadan.

    Jaju's offer

Commissioner Sanjay Jaju made it clear that the MCH was ready to give structural compensation and floor space index for the 80-feet road but land compensation would be given only if the original road of 100-feet is built.

Mayor T. Krishna Reddy and Deputy Mayor G. Subash Chanderji said local people had agreed to give up their land if the road was widened to 80 feet since only 13 properties are to get cut.

The nearby Errakunta lake on an eight-acre plot of land is also be developed at a cost of about Rs. 2 crores with landscaping, pathways and protection of the water body. The adjacent burial ground is to be `barricaded' with greenery.

It was also decided to take up development of a new road junction near the causeway abutting the Saroornagar tank and also to widen the nearby road, though a part of the area comes under the Gaddiannaram Municipality.
