Planetarium shows

Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium has additional shows from September 22 to October 8 for general public. "Solar System," a syllabus-based show, will be arranged in Kannada from 11.30 am and in English at 12.45 p.m. and the show "Albert Einstein — A Glimpse of Greatness" dealing with Einstein's contribution to science will be arranged at 3 p.m. in Kannada and at 4.30 p.m. and 5.45 p.m. in English. Advance booking is available only for the 5.45 p.m. show between 11.30 a.m. and 12.30 p.m. For details, call 22266084.

`Meters defective'

The All Karnataka State Auto Drivers' Welfare Joint Action Committee has alleged that the electronic autorickshaw meters were not tamper proof and many instances of tempering of the meters have come to its notice. There were many complaints of these meters indicating higher fare than the ones indicated by mechanical meters. Hence, the Government should do a rethinking on electronic meters, said a release.

Tax payment

Syndicate Bank has introduced the facility of electronic payment of central excise and service taxes for its customers who have registered with the Commissionarate of Central Excise at Bangalore, Belgaum, Chennai, Delhi, Mangalore and Mysore. Assessees can make the payment through any of the CBS branches of Syndicate Bank and the payment would be accepted round-the-clock.

Illumination

The Bridavan Garden administration has extended the duration of illumination of the gardens during the Dasara festival. The garden will be illuminated from 6.30 p.m. to 9.30 p.m. from October 1 to 5. On other weekdays, it would be between 6.30 a.m. and 7.25 p.m. and on Saturdays and Sundays it would be between 6.30 p.m. and 8.25 p.m. Entry to the gardens would be closed half-an-hour before the closing hours of illumination timings.
