Mosque employees drop move to strike work

Staff Reporter

Hyderabad: Employees of the Makkah Masjid and Royal mosque have agreed to withdraw their decision to go on mass casual leave following an assurance by Hyderabad Collector R.V. Chandravadan, to hike their consolidated wages.

Reacting to a report in these columns, the Collector convened a meeting of the employees of both the mosques on Wednesday and held deliberations on their problems. He impressed on them the importance of the ensuing Ramzan and the impropriety in striking work during this month. He informed them that a proposal to enhance 75 per cent of their present wages has already been submitted to the Government. Mr. Chandravadan also offered to arrange loans to the family members of the mosque employees under Rajiv Yuva Shakthi and PMRY.
