NEW DELHI : A Delhi court on Wednesday framed charges of filing a false affidavit and fabricating false evidence against Lok Sabha MP from Bihar, Rajesh Ranjan Yadav alias Pappu Yadav. He had given false information to the Delhi High Court in 1999 about an investigation against him in connection with the murder of Bihar MLA Ajit Sarkar, in 1998. Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Kamini Lau framed the charges under Sections 181 (knowingly stating to a public servant on oath as true that which is false) and 182 (giving false information to a public servant in order to cause him to use his lawful power to the injury or annoyance of any person) of the Indian Penal Code. Stating that there was prima facie sufficient evidence on record to proceed against the accused, Ms. Lau fixed November 4 as the date for commencing trial.
