4 held in murder case

NEW DELHI: Four persons have been arrested by the West Delhi police for allegedly killing a 30-year-old man on Tuesday night.

According to the police, four persons carrying a gunny bag at Vikaspuri in West Delhi were spotted by a police vehicle around 2-30 a.m. On seeing the police vehicle, the suspects allegedly threw the bag and began fleeing. However, they were chased and nabbed. The police allegedly recovered a body from the gunny bag. The body was identified as that of Moti Lal, a native of Rajasthan.

The accused have been identified by the police as Raju Ram, a resident of Vikaspuri, Tarun Joshi, Gian Bahadur and Jackson.

During interrogation, Raju Ram allegedly confessed to having killed Moti Lal. He purportedly told the police that Moti, who had known him for the past eight years, wanted to marry his sister but he had objections to the proposal as two years ago they had quarrelled over some issue and thereafter Moti had assaulted Raju's mother.

On Tuesday, Moti again came to Raju's house thinking that he was not in the house. However, Raju, who was present there, and his three accomplices caught hold of Moti and tied him up with ropes. Later they allegedly battered him with a stick and then strangled him to death. They then allegedly stuffed the body into the bag and were trying to dispose it of when they were caught.

Arrested for fraud

NEW DELHI: The wife of an Indian Revenue Services (IRS) officer has been arrested by the South Delhi police for allegedly selling a property 11 times using fake documents. The role of the IRS officer is also being probed in connection with the alleged fraud.

According to the police, Ruchi Bedi, wife of Anil Bedi, an IRS officer living in Kalkaji here, was arrested following investigations into a complaint against her. The police said the accused had used fake documents, purportedly showing her as the holder of the power of attorney for the property, to dupe people on at least 11 different occasions.

A case has been registered at the Kalkaji police station and the accused has been booked for cheating, fraud and forgery. Further investigations are under way.
