Men at work

A few days ago, the Kerala Water Authority (KWA) dug up a small portion of the road at Kowdiar junction to try and identify a leak in the pipeline beneath. Officials of the city roads improvement project swung into action and asked the KWA not to repair the dug-up portion. The repair work would be done by the company that is executing the project, the officials told the KWA.

There are any number of water connections serviced by pipes on the Kowdiar-Vellayambalam road that are well past their prime.

Repair work on this stretch of road has to be meticulous and of the standards maintained in laying this road. And yes, KWA officials are already talking of a leaking pipeline somewhere in Jawahar Nagar whose control valve lies beneath this stretch of road.
