This Day That Age
Speaking at a function on September 20 at the National Physical Laboratory Auditorium, New Delhi, at which Prime Minister Nehru distributed the State awards for films, Dr. B.V. Keskar, Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting, said the Government proposed to introduce legislation for setting up a National Film Board during the coming session of Parliament and to organise the film industry in general on a better basis. The Film Board would have as its constituent units the present Censorship organisation, a Production Bureau which would help producers in looking through scripts in an advisory capacity and a Film Institute for giving expert training. Another important step proposed was to form a Film Finance Corporation. The President's gold medal for the best feature and documentary films and other State awards were given away by the Prime Minister.
