Electronic payment of service tax mandatory

NEW DELHI: The Central Government on Thursday said high value service tax payers would have to pay the tax electronically from next month.

As per an official notification issued to this effect, the new move is mandatory for all the service tax assessees who have paid at least Rs. 50 lakh last fiscal or those whose service tax liability exceeds Rs. 50 lakh during the current financial year.
