TIRUCHI: Dindigul edged out Nilgiris 2-1 and booked a place in the quarterfinals of the senior State hockey championship conducted by the Tiruchi District Hockey Association here on Thursday. Ruban opened the scoring for Dindigul in the sixth minute, but Ganesamurthy equalised three minutes later. At half time both the teams were 1-1. Dindigul attacked from the start of second session and Hussain struck the winner in the 47th. In another league match, Chennai scored a hard-fought 1-0 win over Perambalur. Muthukumaran scored through a penalty corner in the second half. Meanwhile, Rajendraprabhu's hat-trick was the highlight of Tiruvallur's 8-0 win over Kanyakumari. Dinesh, Vasu, Michael, Madan and Koushiram were the other scorers.
