Kerala police warn against "letter bombs"

Staff Reporter

Thiruvananthapuram : The State police have warned citizens against opening suspicious mail following the explosion of two "letter bombs" in different parts of the city on Thursday. No one was injured in the explosions that occurred on the day of the President's visit.

The police suspect that more such "improvised explosive devices" enclosed in envelops could have been posted in Kerala.

The Tamil Nadu and Karnataka Governments have been alerted of the potential threat from "letter bombs." Director General of Police Raman Srivastava has asked citizens to contact the police in the event they receive suspicious mail from unknown senders.

He said there was no cause for any alarm.
