Staff Reporter

Indrasena Reddy accuses the ruling party of dilly-dallying on the issue

  • BJP president says first SRC was not implemented
  • TRS criticised for forging alliance with Congress
  • Party to enter fray for Karimnagar Parliament bypoll

KARIMNAGAR: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State president N. Indrasena Reddy has asked the Congress to make it clear whether it will give Telangana or not instead of dilly-dallying on the issue on the pretext of evolving a consensus.

Talking to newsmen on Thursday, Mr. Reddy, who was here to inspect flood-affected areas, alleged that the Congress was deceiving people of Telangana and wondered whether two-and-a-half year period was insufficient to evolve consensus.

Accusing the Congress of not keeping its promise made at the time of elections on formation of separate Telangana, he faulted the party on the constitution of second SRC even as it had failed to implement the first SRC.

He said the first SRC had clearly stated that the Telangana region should not be merged with Andhra but it was the Congress which had merged the Telangana region with Andhra.

He criticised the TRS for forging an alliance with the Congress which had betrayed the region and also TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao for issuing fresh deadlines on withdrawal of his resignation.

He said that the BJP would field its candidate if byelection was held for the Karimnagar Parliament segment.

"But, I am sure that the elections will not be held if recent political developments any indication," he added.

    Flood relief

Expressing concern over lethargy on the part of officials in providing relief for flood-affected persons, he asked the State Government to release a white paper on the relief operations taken up in the last month's floodsin the State and also in how many days it would provide compensation and relief to victims of the recent floods.
