Malaysian firm keen on setting up power plant in State

HYDERABAD: Asian Gateway Corporation, a Malaysian company, has expressed its willingness to set up a 2,400 MW thermal power plant in Andhra Pradesh.

Company's chief executive Ho called on Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy on Thursday.

He submitted a proposal to establish the thermal power plant. In the first phase, the company will take up 1,600 MW generation for which it has sought land and water.

Mr. Ho told the Chief Minister that he would make arrangement for supply of coal for the proposed power plant.

The company was into banking and mining in Malaysia, Mr. Ho said and expressed the hope that the Government would positively respond to its offer.
