HYDERABAD: The Statewide flood toll reached 41 with eight more deaths being reported from different districts.

Four persons were washed way while trying to cross the Sileru which was in spate in East Godavari. Godavari waters entered more villages while about 30 forest habitations remained cut off for the second day in Devipatnam mandal. Vast areas of paddy fields, vital road links and low-lying urban localities, including those in Rajahmundry, came under water.

Elsewhere in the State, affected areas in Karimnagar, Adilabad and Warangal districts were limping back to normal as floodwater began to recede. According to reports reaching disaster management officials, relief operations were in full swing.

Enumeration of loss

G.D. Priyadarshini, Additional Commissioner of the department, said Collectors had been asked to immediately commence enumeration of the loss caused to crops and properties like dwelling units for extending relief and commence restoration operations on a war-footing.

The Krishna continued to receive a steady inflow of 1.5 lakh cusecs. Two gates of Srisailam project were opened on Thursday to let out excess water.

The rain ensured a second filling not only to Srisailam but Nagarjunasagar and Sriramsagar also. Many medium and minor irrigation projects enjoyed even a third filling.
