3 Delhi players found ineligible

NEW DELHI: Three Delhi players, Rahul Tyagi, Nipun Malhotra and Akash Yadav, will be returning home after being adjudged ineligible to take part in the North Zone under-13 cricket tournament beginning at Patiala on Friday.

According to the Delhi coach Virender Bhatnagar, the players were students of Class IX and hence ineligible to participate in the tournament. He said the regulations for the tournament were received only on September 13, two days after the announcement of the Delhi team.

"We requested the organisers to allow these boys to take part since they had cleared the medical tests. But the organisers expressed their inability," said Mr. Bhatnagar.

Delhi plays Haryana on Friday, Himachal Pradesh on Saturday and Punjab on Monday.
