Indian team announced

NEW DELHI: The uncertainty about the participation of Indian wrestlers in the Doha Asian Games has been cleared.

The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) has asked the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) to send entries before September 25, the last date of sending entries by name to the Doha Asian Games Organising Committee.

The participation of Indian wrestlers in the Asian Games was in doubt after the IOA did not take wrestlers to the last month's South Asian Games in Colombo.

The subsequent announcement that the sport would not be part of the 2007 Guwahati National Games itinerary, further added to their worry.

In a letter addressed to Justice J.K. Mehra (Retd.), the Court Observer appointed by the Delhi High Court to oversee day-to-day affairs of the WFI, the IOA President, Suresh Kalmadi, also stated that wrestling would be a medal sport in the next year's National Games.

The World championship will be held in Guangzhou, China, from September 25 to October 1.

Coaches: Jagminder Singh and Vladmir Mesteitishvli.
