HC declines to stay BCCI AGM

CHENNAI: The Madras High Court on Thursday declined to stay the 77th annual general body meeting of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), scheduled in Mumbai on Sept. 27 and 28.

Justice M.E.N. Patrudu, before whom a writ petition filed by P. Damodaren of the Cricket Association of Pondicherry (CAP) came up for hearing, said there would be no injunction restraining the BCCI from holding the AGM.

He also asked the BCCI to consider CAP's application for associate membership and pass orders in accordance with law. If granted associate membership, the CAP could participate in the proceedings.

The petitioner, contending that the Union Territory of Pondicherry had been neglected by the BCCI and the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association, sought a full membership for CAP so as to enable it to function as the central controlling body of cricket in Pondicherry. — Special Correspondent
