Old woman commits `sati'

Chhatarpur: In the second alleged act of sati in Madhya Pradesh in a month, a 95-year-old woman on Wednesday jumped into the pyre of her husband at Baniyani village near here, official sources said.

``We have received information about 95-year-old Kuria, wife of Siaram Rajput, committing suicide on Wednesday evening,'' Chhatarpur District Collector Ajatshatru Srivastava told PTI over phone. Asked whether it was an act of sati, he said the information received from the village said it was ``but we can only confirm after we verify it.''— PTI
