CHENNAI : Governor Surjit Singh Barnala on Thursday inaugurated Flag Day of the National Association for the Blind.

The Association, which provides integrated education for visually impaired students, is one of the largest NGOs working towards rehabilitating the visually challenged.

The Association conducts eye camps to spread awareness and help identify symptoms at an early stage. Its State unit has organised car rallies, chess tournaments, music and dance shows for the visually challenged.

Office bearers including state president Meyyammai Murugappan called on the Governor at Raj Bhavan for the inauguration when they also explained to him the work of the organisations. The Governor presented them with a copy of `Quest for freedom', his autobiography, which has been brought out now in Braille.
