Power shutdown

CHENNAI: Power supply will be suspended in parts of Muthialpet, Park Town, Kondithope, Esplanade, Kadapperi, Ayapakkam, Tharamani, Thiruvanmiyur, Foreshore Estate, St. Thomas Mount, T. Nagar, Sowcarpet East, Flower Bazaar, Besant Nagar, Adyar, Madhavaram, Vepery, Choolaimedu, Dasarathapuram, Ashok Nagar East and West, Ashok Nagar West and Central, Virugambakkam, Chinmaya Nagar, MGR Nagar, Rangarajapuram, Tondiarpet, Royapuram, Vyasarpadi, Seven Wells, Porur and Pallavaram between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Saturday .

Personality development workshop

The Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama will be conducting a workshop entitled `The Indomitable Spirit Within You' on Sunday at its premises on 3, MSS Salai, T. Nagar. Treasury officials

meet Minister

The newly elected office-bearers of the Treasuries and Accounts Officers' Association met Finance Minister, K. Anbazhagan, last month. The office bearers are A.P. Mahabharathi, president, S. Shoba, vice-president, A. Thirunavukkarasu, general secretary, K. Govindarajan, treasurer, and A. Murali, joint secretary.

Furniture mela

There is an exhibition and sale of furniture and wooden items at the Corporation Community Hall, CP Ramaswamy Rd., Alwarpet. On sale are items of furniture made of walnut wood and teak, including writing tables, tallboys, sofa sets, coffee tables, side boards, swings, door panels, chariot models, trays, letter holders, book stands and folding chairs. The exhibition is on till Sunday.

Jewellers' association office-bearers

The Madras Jewellers and Diamond Merchants' Association has elected new office bearers during its annual general body meeting on Tuesday. They are LKS Syed Ahamed, president, Uday Kumar Vummidi and Pravin M. Mehta, vice-presidents, Ashok Kumar Mundra, honorary secretary, Jayamtilal Chalani and C.V. Balaji, assistant secretaries, and K. Badri, treasurer.
