Swapna moves court seeking legal heir status

Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: Swapna of Warangal on Thursday moved a local court here to declare her and her one-year-old daughter Nitisha as legal heirs of engineer K. Suryanarayana who was killed by the Taliban in Afghanisthan five months ago.

A controversy was triggered when Swapna, carrying her baby girl, turned up at the slain engineer's house in East Anandbagh to attend the funeral on April 1 last.

The issue subsided with elders of Suryanarayana's first wife Manjula and Swapna consenting to settle the issue amicably.

Manjula too

In her petition with the Principal Senior Civil Judge of Ranga Reddy district court, Manjula prayed that she and her daughter be declared legal heirs of Suryanarayana to claim his property and the compensation being awarded by the Central and State Governments and the Al Moyeed company for which the engineer worked.

She also requested the court to restrain the State and Central Government and the Al Moyeed company from disbursing the compensation to Suryanarayana's family members till the court gave its verdict.

The judge issued notices to Suryanarayana's first wife, the Central and State Governments, the Al Moyeed company to file counter and posted the matter to October 9.
