Staff Reporter

Bangalore: Disciplinary action would be taken against staff found to be negligent in discharging their duties in government hospitals, M.N. Vidyashankar, Secretary to the Government of Department of Medical Education, has said.

Mr. Vidyashankar, who conducted a surprise check on the Government Vani Vilas Hospital on Wednesday, found that 74 staff members were absent.

These included Superintendent M.L. Siddharaju, 17 doctors and 37 nurses. "This is the third time I am conducting a surprise inspection at the hospital in the last few months, and all three times, the Superintendent was missing," he said. "I was at the hospital from 9 a.m. to 9.45 a.m.," he said.
