National Blood Donation Day on Sunday

Thiruvananthapuram: A variety of programmes organised by the Kerala State Aids Control Society will mark the observance of the National Blood Donation Day here on Sunday. Minister for Health P.K. Sreemathy will inaugurate a public meeting on voluntary blood donation at the VJT Hall on Sunday evening. V. Sivankutty, MLA, C. Jayan Babu, Mayor, and Pannian Ravindran, MP, are scheduled to participate in the function.

A magic show featuring messages on blood donation is one of the highlights of the evening. A `kala jatha' with the same message will tour college campuses to take the campaign to the student community and enlist their support in blood donation.

The society will also organise awareness classes at all district headquarters under the auspices of the District Aids Committee and the District Blood Donor Forum. Two villages in each district have also been selected to host awareness classes.on blood donation.
