Gurunayak to be felicitated for serving children

Special Correspondent

GULBARGA: Recognising the services of Venkatesh Gurunayak, managing trustee of the Vivekananda Kusta Seva Sangha, in rehabilitating children of leprosy-afflicted patients in the region, Uttaranchal-based Divya Prema Seva Mission will felicitated him on October 8.

According to a communication to Mr. Gurunayak, Divya Prema Seva Mission has said that he would be felicitated by the Vice-President Bhairon Singh Shekawat at Haridwar.

Mr. Gurunayak, who is the founder trustee of the Vivekananda Kusta Seva Sangha, has been doing yeoman service for the children of leprosy-afflicted patients in Gulbarga and Bijapur districts.

When Mr. Gurunayak established the ashram for the children of leprosy-afflicted patients at the temple town of Deval Gangapur in Afzalpur taluk in Gulbarga district in 1985 in a rented building, there were only eight students. Now, the ashram has grown into a full-fledged residential centre.
