The London conference on Suez on September 21 adopted a declaration announcing the creation of a Cooperatie Association of Suez Canal Users. The Conference also adopted a second declaration indicating the reasons for creation of the Association and its aims. The declaration leaes open the possibility of taking the question of the Suez crisis before the United Nations. The Conference ended in London on September 21 after a final four-hour session. It wound up with a pledge to continue efforts to reach a "peaceful solution" of the Suez Canal dispute on the basis of proposals for international control of the 100-mile long waterway. The declaration issued at the end of the Conference said the Association would, pending a final solution, seek the co-operation of the Egyptian authorities who nationalised the Canal on July 26.
