Staff Correspondent

Party takes up `Awareness Jatha' to highlight Government apathy to core issues

HASSAN: Siddanagowda Patil, secretary, State unit of the Communist Party of India (CPI), on Friday alleged that perturbed by indications of losing its base for supporting Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy, who was facing charges of corruption, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was raising issues which were dear to its heart such as Datta Jayanti.

Mr. Patil, who was here as part of an "Awareness Jatha" being organised by the party to create awareness among the people on the apathy of the coalition Government to the real issues being faced by the people, its failure in handling natural calamities that struck the State recently and the corruption charges being levelled against it, told presspersons that the recent statement of the Minister for Higher Education D.H. Shankaramurthy on Tipu Sultan's alleged anti-Kannada policy was another attempt of the BJP to distract the attention of the people from the core issues.
