CHENNAI: The city police recovered stolen goods worth Rs 24.50 lakh, which included 132 sovereigns of gold jewels, two cars, two motorcycles and an auto-rickshaw. Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Commissioner of Police Letika Saran said special teams formed to solve the cases had recovered the stolen goods and arrested 12 persons within a record time. She commended the officers and the teams for the good work. The Commissioner made a special mention about the catch made by the Ambattur district police. Following complaints of chain snatching incidents in the suburbs by a motorcycle-borne robber wearing a helmet, a special team was formed. The Avadi Tank Factory police nabbed the offender on September 19 and identified him as Manikandan (22), a resident of Thirumullaivoyal Housing Board Colony. The youth is understood to have said that he was studying B.E. in a private engineering college.
