KATHMANDU: A double gold winning Nepali athlete in tenth South Asian Games in Colombo, Rajendra Bhandari, has been accused of using banned anabolic steroid for performance enhancement. At a press conference, National Sports Council (NSC) on Friday said Rajendra's urine sample has tested positive for 19-Norandrosterone. The drug test was done by a World Anti Doping Agency (WADA) ratified lab in Malaysia. If the second test confirms its presence, this will the first ever incident of a Nepali amateur athlete failing a doping test. The Army athlete had won golds in 5,000m and 3,000m steeplechase. Rajendra was not available for comments. If Rajendra fails the second test, he will be stripped of both the medals, which will go to India.
