Thiruvananthapuram: The Chennai-based manufacturer Cholayil Private Ltd. has announced a brand extension for its popular talcum powder, Cuticura.

The new product, Cuticura DeO2, marks the company's entry into the deodorant category.

Launching the new product at a function here on Friday, M.C. Anand Kumar, senior vice-president, sales and marketing, Dorcas Market Makers Ltd., the marketing arm of Cholayil, told presspersons that the deodorant was designed to act for 24 hours. He said the brand was being positioned for a nation-wide market presence.

Available in three fragrances

Cuticura DeO2 was available in three different fragrances, namely original, lavender and pink passion. It came in a new package. The product was priced at Rs. 65 for 75 ml and Rs. 100 for 150 ml.

The company would bring out more variants of the deodorant over the next few months. New product categories under the Medimix brand of Ayurvedic soap were also on the anvil, Mr. Kumar said.

Cholayil had plans to set up a soap manufacturing facility in Haridwar and a talcum powder unit in Uttaranchal, he added.
