Flight returns after take-off

NEW DELHI: An Alliance Air flight bound for Udaipur on Friday morning was forced to return to Delhi airport soon after take-off due to a problem in the air pressure system. The flight had 46 passengers on board. "The Air Traffic Control received a message at 10-42 a.m. informing them of the problem. The flight landed safely at 10-51 a.m.," said an airport official. The flight later took off at 1 p.m.

PNB festival bonanza

NEW DELHI: As a festival season bonanza, Punjab National Bank (PNB) is launching a new housing loan scheme on Saturday to provide attractive concessions to customers in its retail credit schemes.

PNB has decided to offer concessions in the rate of interest and processing fee and waive off documentation charges to all customers who avail of loan from September 23. A reduction of 0.25 per cent is offered under the bank's housing loan scheme for all tenor of repayment up to 20 years. Housing loan will be available at 8.50 per cent, 8.75 per cent and 9 per cent for repayment tenor of up to five years, above five years to ten years and above 10 years to 20 years respectively.

College annual day

NEW DELHI: Bharati College celebrated its 35th Annual Day in the Capital on Wednesday. On the occasion, Police Commissioner K.K. Paul was the guest of honour, while Chairman of the Governing Body Naresh Kumar presided over the function.

In the annual report, College Principal Promodini Varma highlighted the achievements of the students as well as the faculty. Founded in 1971, the college has decided to waive off the fees of financially weak students from this year.

Rickshaw pullers' plea

NEW DELHI: A delegation of the Delhi Rickshaw Pullers' and Owners' Association called on the MCD Standing Committee Chairman, J. K. Sharma, on Friday and urged him to issue licences manually also as the computerised process was causing undue delay. Mr. Sharma assured that the Hackney Carriage Department would be directed to renew cycle-rickshaw licences manually also.

Giving details about the meeting, senior Congress Councillor Brij Mohan Sharma said as per directions of the High Court, 99,000 rickshaw licences have to been issued.

Result announced

NEW DELHI: The Delhi police on Friday announced the result of selection tests for recruitment of constables. The results have been displayed at various Delhi Police premises including all district headquarters and armed police lines. The results can also be viewed/obtained from the website www.delhipolice.nic.in.

According to the release issued by the Delhi police, 2,134 candidates qualified in the selection rounds.
