TMMK men held

Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: About 1,750 volunteers of the Tamil Nadu Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam were arrested on Friday when they attempted to proceed in a procession to the residence of All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam general secretary Jayalalithaa.

They said that they were protesting her remarks about a senior civil servant Syed Munir Hoda. They claimed that Ms. Jayalalithaa's statements "revealed her anti-minority sentiments and her opposition to minority empowerment." .
