NIZAMABAD: Prompt action by the Makloor police resulted in the busting of a notorious criminal gang comprising six offenders and prevention of their attempts to rob a businessman belonging to Chandrasekharnagar Colony in the town, on September 21 night. Two tapanchas, one toy pistol, three knives, two country made bombs, chilli powder packs, four cellphones and one Mahindra Max jeep and other tools used for dacoity were recovered from them. Presenting the gang members Chitt Mugre Nagnath, Dandugula Babu, Dandugula Maruthi, Jivangar Nagnath, Beerada Sangram and Saber before mediapersons, here on Friday, Superintendent of Police Mahesh Chandra Laddha said all the arrested belonged to Deglur taluq in Nanded district of Maharashtra and were habitual offenders. They were involved in criminal activities in the town earlier also. Two other gang members Suresh of Mumbai and Rajesh of Nanded were absconding, he said. Dandugula Babu while working as a driver for a businessman Srinivas here observed the businessman and his wife carrying huge cash to their residence after business hours every night. He, however, was sacked for rash driving. Babu later hatched a plan to rob the businessman with the help of four others from his native. The gang conducted a recce at Srinivas's house. They planned to waylay the businessman. As the gang members had time till the businessman returned, they wanted to conceal the number plate. However, special party constables Harikrishna and Srinivas spotted them and arrested the offenders.
