Alert cop nabs trickster at Secretariat complex

CHENNAI
: Police at the Secretariat complex nabbed a trickster here on Friday on charges of attempting to steal a brand new mobile phone belonging to a dealer.
Police said the trickster, whom they identified as Babu Imtiaz of Vellore district, called up a mobile phone dealer in the city and asked him to bring some expensive handsets to the Secretariat, telling him that a minister's PA wanted to purchase a phone.

The dealer came to the Secretariat with a few sets. Imtiaz, who met him, told him that the PA after waiting all this while had gone to another floor, and on the pretext of taking them to the PA, he tried to make good his escape.
However, an alert policeman caught him. Police found that he had planned to make away with the phone.
A case has been registered and further investigation is on, police added.
