Screening camp

CHENNAI: Sri Ramachandra Medical Centre has organised a chest disease screening camp at concessional tariff at its premises in Alwarpet from September 25 to 30. Handicraft exhibition

The Karnataka State Handicrafts Development Corporation Limited has organised an exhibition at Sankara Hall on T.T.K. Road in Alwarpet till September 27. Artisans from the State are directly marketing their products in the expo, a press release said. Playback singer Anooradha Sriram inaugurated the exhibition. Products priced from Rs.10 to Rs.2.2 lakh are on sale.

Slogan writing competition

The N.S.S. wing of Jaya College of Arts and Science organised a `slogan writing' competition on the occasion of World Peace Day on Thursday. A press release said the students of the college took a march on the eve of the World Peace Day and took a vow to shed racial and lingual barriers.

Blood donation camp

L.C.R. College of Engineering and Technology in Kanchipadi Post of Thiruvallur District recently organised blood donation at their college premises. More than 60 units of blood were collected in the camp jointly organised by Madras Voluntary Blood Bank.

Guest lecture

DMI College of Engineering in Nazarethpet of Kancheepuram district recently organised a guest lecture on "success beyond examination' for its students. Abraham Zachariah, president, Institute of Self-development, conducted the programme.

Vaccination drive

The N.S.S. wings of the B.S. Abdur Rahman Cresent Engineering College recently organised a vaccination drive for Hepatitis-B and Typhoid recently. The vaccine was given to over 250 staff and students of the college by a team of doctors headed by G. Ranganathan from Pavithra Hospital in Chennai.

Workshop on positive parenting

15 nominations filed

The first batch of applications from candidates for the forthcoming local body polls in Chennai was received on Friday. Fifteen persons filed their nominations for election to the Chennai Corporation Council. All of them were independent candidates. Party candidates are expected to submit applications next week.
