HYDERABAD: Tata Teleservices, the CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) mobile service provider, on Friday unveiled aggressive plans to reach a target of adding 2.2 million fresh connections in the post and pre-paid segments to its existing network of 12 million, pan-India, including about four lakhs in Andhra Pradesh, by end of the current fiscal. At a press conference, company's Chief Operating Officer (Andhra Pradesh Circle) Sanjeev Khera announced that by opening 103 True Value Shoppes (TVS) in a single day across India with 13 in the State, they had entered the Limca Book of Records as the first telecom operator in India to do so.
`Record' show
They comprise five in Hyderabad, four in Vijayawada, three in Visakhapatnam and one in Kakinada. He said they would invest Rs. 80-100 crores in enhancing retail presence by over 80 per cent in the current fiscal. On the nationwide plans, he said the current 2,700 outlets would be taken to at least 3,500 both TVS and True Value Hubs. Significantly, 25 per cent of the outlets were in rural areas, he said.
