Funds for OGH to buy new equipment

Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: Osmania General Hospital (OGH) is in the process of buying new equipment and the Government has recently sanctioned Rs.16 crores for the purpose.

In response to the story `OGH orthopaedic wing lacks basic equipment' in these columns on September 20, OGH Superintendent Girish Narayen said the cardiac cath lab costing Rs.3.50 crores had been installed. Similar equipment was being procured for all departments including the Orthopaedics Department.

"Certain medical equipment have to be changed at regular intervals and the process is on for replacing old instruments with new ones in the Orthopaedics Department," Dr. Narayen said.

No patient was denied any surgery for lack of equipment and instruments, including C-arm image intensifier, he noted.
