Steps against `urban flood'
Staff Reporter
HYDERABAD:
National Disaster Management Authority member and Congress legislator M. Shashidhar Reddy on Friday said that a framework should be evolved for "Urban Flooding Impact Assessment" to tackle frequent instances of floods in urban areas.
Mr. Reddy, who presided over a meeting with a Canadian , said plans were afoot to integrate spatial data infrastructure, rain gauges and hydro-dynamic modelling. Mr. Reddy said 8 cm of rain in the city last week disrupted traffic and affected colonies and slums. "If this idea gets concretised, it could be a path-breaking initiative in mitigating floods in urban areas," he said.
