KOCHI: Minister for Co-operation and Devaswoms G. Sudhakaran said here on Friday that legal education of which moot courts formed a part should reach the level of creating professionals not only with competence "but also with courage and commitment to ethical values".
Competition inaugurated
The Minister was inaugurating the three-day National Trial Advocacy Competition organised jointly by the National University of Advanced Legal Studies (NUALS) and Surana and Surana International Attorneys, Chennai. He called for making legal education more modern and contemporary to make it socially relevant and humanistic. Advocate General C.P. Sudhakara Prasad delivered the presidential address. He said that legal profession was a noble one and that its sanctity should be maintained by hard work by lawyers. S.G. Bhatt, Vice-Chancellor of NUALS, welcomed the gathering. P.G. Thampi, Chairman, Bar Council of Kerala and Director General of Public Prosecutions, and S. Ravichandran, moot court coordinator, Surana and Surana International Attorneys, offered felicitation. Ansu Paul, joint secretary, NUALS Moot Court Society, introduced the participants to the audience and Oneal Sabu, secretary, NUALS Moot Court Society, proposed the vote of thanks.
