Revanna charged with neglecting crime control

Staff Correspondent

`Several problems faced by people in Hassan district ignored'

HASSAN: Holding the district in-charge and Public Works Minister H.D. Revanna responsible for the alleged collapse in law and order situation in Hassan district, the former Minister B. Shivaram said here on Saturday that while concentrating on what he was claiming to be development work, Mr. Revanna neglected other problems faced by people in the region.

Mr. Shivaram told presspersons that although the people faced many problems, including delay in settling crop insurance claims of farmers, dithering over regularisation of illegal pump set connections, failure in paying compensating for crop loss because of recent torrential rains, failure in correcting discrepancies in identifying beneficiaries of Below Poverty Line (BPL) families and negligence over implementing languishing irrigation projects, the district in-charge minister was concentrating only on taking up construction work. Referring to the recent murder of secretary of an education institution and alleged increase in crime rate, he said that the law and order situation was worsening in the district and Mr. Revanna was not making any effort to address the problem. Despite complaints against corrupt officials, no action had been initiated against them and people were frustrated with the situation, he said.
