PUDUKOTTAI: St. Josephs' College (Tiruchi) with a better goal difference at the end of the league stage won the title in the Bharathidasan University inter-zonal football tournament here on Saturday. Jamal Mohammed College (Tiruchi) finished second, while host H.H. Rajah's College (Pudukottai) finished third. In the last of the league matches, St. Joseph's and Jamal Mohammed played out a goalless draw. With both the teams levelled at two wins, St. Joseph's having scored 22 goals in the earlier two matches as compared Jamal's 11, was declared the winner. H.H. Raja's defeated Adaikalamatha College (Thanjavur) 2-1 to clinch the third place. The results: League: SJC bt HH RC 14-1; SJC bt Adikalamatha 8-0; JMC bt HH RC 6-0; JMC bt Adikalamatha 5-0; HH RC bt Adiakalamatha 2-1; SJC drew with JMC 0-0.
BHEL to host
Bharath Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), Tiruchi, will host the BHEL inter-unit lawn tennis and table tennis tournaments to be held at Tiruchi from September 26 to 28. Sports Reporter
