MADURAI: It will be a grand event with over 900 students taking part from all over the Southern Railway.

The `Cubs and Bulbul Utsav' and 43rd State Rally and 16th Camporee of the Bharat Scouts and Guides will be organised at the Arasadi Grounds in Madurai from September 24 to 29.

The six-day show packed with colourful events, skill evaluation competitions and campfire would mark the golden jubilee year celebrations of the Scouting and Guiding movement in the Southern Railway.

According to the Senior Deputy General Manager and State Chief Commissioner (Scouts), V. Carmeus, a glimpse of the varied activities during the show would enlighten the public on the ideals of the movement.

Competitions in camp craft, first aid, signalling, estimation, cooking, badge work, compass and mapping and kite flying among others would be held.

Cubs and Bulbuls were children in the age group of 5-10 years.

The Southern Railway General Manager, Thomas Varghese, and the Southern Railway Women Welfare Organisation president, Rosie Thomas, would also take part in the programme, Mr. Carmelus added.
