TIRUCHI: Feminist writer and poet, A. Rokkaiah Malik alias Salma, will form part of an Indian delegation to attend the Frankfurt International Book Fair to be held in Germany next month. India will be the Guest of Honour at the fair to be held from October 4 to 8. A group of eminent personalities from the country will visit the fair as part of a delegation to be taken by The National Book Trust. The guest of honour presentation will portray `Today's India' and its accomplishments in various fields, including art, literature, culture, theatre and films.
Reading sessions
As a curtain raiser to the presentation, reading sessions by 12 eminent Indian authors have already been organised in various cities across Germany including Munich, Hamburg, Berlin, Leipzig and Frankfurt during March. Salma, who is also currently the chairperson of the Ponnampatti Town Panchayat in Tiruchi district, is the sole Tamil writer to be part of the delegation. The delegation includes, among others, leading authors and personalities such as Girish Karnad, Javed Akthar and U.R. Ananthamurthy, Ms. Salma said. Known for her novel, `Irandam Jaamangalin Kadhai' and other poetry collections, Salma would participate in a few reading sessions of her works during the trip. She would spend nearly a fortnight in Germany from October 1 to 13.
