`Ensure water supply to Cantonment by Dasara'

Minister reviews progress of works on power, drinking water

HYDERABAD: State Information and Public Relations, Power and Coal Minister Mohammad Ali Shabbir has directed Metro Water Works officials to ensure drinking water supply to Cantonment by Dasara.

The Minister reviewed the progress of works related to power, drinking water, housing in Secunderabad Cantonment with people's representatives and officers at Secretariat on Saturday.

Mr. Shabbir Ali said officials should stick to the given guidelines for selecting genuine beneficiaries under the housing programme. He inquired about the progress of construction of houses in Krishnanagar, Katta Mysamma, BMH Lines, Ambedkar Huts, Murford, Gangaiah Basthi, Saibaba Huts, Pension Lines etc. The Cantonment officials urged the Minister to charge Rs.3.20 per unit for streetlights as in municipalities as against Rs.3.79 being charged in the Cantonment.

Siddipet MP Sarve Satyanarayana, MLA Sayanna, Collector R.V.Chandravadan, Cantonment Board Vice-President Gouri Shankar, Board members and other officials were present.
