Youth stabbed, robbed of mobile phone

BANGALORE: Two men stabbed an unemployed youth and robbed him of a mobile phone worth Rs. 2,500 in Peenya police station limits on Friday.

The police said that around 8.30 p.m. the two men waylaid Prasad Kulkarni on Mallasandra Pipeline road, stabbed him in the abdomen and snatched his mobile phone. Kulkarni, a resident of Hesarghatta Main, was on his way to a shop to buy vegetables. The Peenya police have registered a case.

Murder accused held

The Adugodi police arrested three of the five persons who had stabbed to death Nagaraj (26), an autorickshaw driver, at Venkataswamy Reddy Layout on September 18. The names of the arrested were given as S. Lawrence (22), Gajendra (22) and Santosh (20), all residents Lakshman Rau Nagar slum.

Office burgled

Burglars struck at the office of the Bangalore North Taluk Agriculture Producers' Cooperative Society on Mission Road on Friday night and made away with Rs. 15,000 in cash. The police said the burglars entered the office by breaking open the lock of the main door.

After ransacking a safe, they stole the cash.

On a complaint by society secretary, Chandrappa, the Samapangiramnagar police have registered a case.

The police are questioning the security guard of the office who was on duty on Friday night.

Pedestrian killed

Sreenivasa (45), a pedestrian, was killed on the spot when a lorry hit him on Cauverynagar Main Road in Banashankari police station limits around 3.30 p.m. on Friday.

The police said Sreenivasa, a cloth merchant, was a resident of Cauverynagar.
