Ramzan begins Monday

Chennai : Salahuddin Mohammed Ayub, Government Chief Kazi has announced that the new moon of Ramzan was not sighted on Saturday. So, the month of Ramzan would begin on Monday, September 25 in the city.

Art workshop for children

Soft skills training programme

Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan is offering a five-day training programme on soft skills, creative writing, personality development and effective study habits for students from class 6 to 12. The course, which will commence on Monday, will be held between 10 a.m. and 12 noon.

Reduced cost heart check ups offered

Apollo Hospitals is offering a considerable reduction in price of preventive heart check ups till September 30 to mark World Heart Day. Patients can avail of the Apollo heart check at Rs.3,500 as against the original rate of Rs.4,950. Similarly, the 64-slice heart scan will be offered at Rs.8,500 and advanced heart check at 12,500. Heart screening

The cardiology and cardiothoracic department of Bharathi Rajaa Speciality Hospital is conducting heart check up on Monday to commemorate World Heart Day.

Alcohol, drug abuse awareness programme

Consumer awareness

Students of several colleges in Thiruvallur district attended a two-day consumer awareness training programme organised by DRBCCC Hindu College, Pattabiram, and Thiruvallur District Consumer Information Centre last week. Speakers including T.Kannappan, joint secretary of Thandurai Pattabiram Consumer Centre, and D.Ramani, joint secretary of FEDCOT, highlighted on rights and responsibilities of consumers and their role in environmental protection.

T.Sadagopan, co-ordinator of Thiruvallur District Consumer Information Centre spoke about the Consumer Protection Act and Right to Information Act.
