Woman constable killed in Srinagar

SRINAGAR: Putting at rest speculation of a possible ceasefire during Ramzan, militants on the first day of the month on Monday attacked a women police party in the heart of Srinagar, killing a constable and injuring three others.

Around 1.30 p.m., an unidentified militant hurled a grenade at a vehicle of the women's police station near the busy Jehangir Chowk. Gulshan hailing from Ganderbal died in hospital, Farooq Ahmad, Deputy Inspector-General, Kashmir range, told The Hindu .

No outfit has claimed responsibility for the attack.
