Monsoon active over T.N.

CHENNAI: Southwest monsoon has been vigorous over Kerala and active over Telangana and Tamil Nadu. Rainfall occurred at most places over Kerala, at many places over Tamil Nadu and Telangana and at a few places over coastal and South Interior Karnataka.

Isolated rainfall occurred over coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema and north interior Karnataka. Mainly dry weather prevailed over Lakshadweep.

The following stations recorded very heavy to heavy rainfall in centimetres:

Aluva (Ernakulam dt) and Enamackal (Thrissur dt) 16 each, Kunnamkulam (Thrissur dt) 15, Nalgonda 13, Kozha (Kottayam dt) 12, Ambur (Vellore dt) 11, Chengam (Tiruvannamalai dt), Perumbavur (Ernakulam dt) and CIAL Kochi 10 each

Forecast (Valid until Wednesday morning): Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at many places over coastal Karnataka, Kerala and Lakshadweep and at a few places over Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, Andhra Pradesh and interior Karnataka.

Forecast for Chennai City and neighbourhood (valid until Wednesday morning): Generally cloudy. Possibility of shower or thundershower.
