Kidnapped boy rescued from U.P.

Staff Reporter

The alleged mastermind arrested in Etah

NEW DELHI: A six-year-old boy kidnapped from outside his school at Pitampura in North-West Delhi about three days ago was rescued from Etah in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday.

The alleged mastermind has been arrested.

Lakshit -- a Class II student -- went missing from outside his school this past Thursday.

His father, Sameer Malhotra, lodged a missing report the next day. Later, he purportedly received a call from the kidnappers demanding a huge sum as ransom amount for Lakshit's release.

The case was then converted to that of kidnapping and a hunt launched for the culprits. Lakshit's parents received some more ransom calls.

The police found that the calls were originating from Etah, following which a team was despatched to track down the caller. Lakshit was rescued from the clutches of the kidnapper, later identified as Vineet.

At his instance, the police have launched a hunt for the others involved in the conspiracy.
